Tim develops statistical methods for high-throughput omics, focusing on allele-specific gene expression, genomic imprinting and epigenetic regulation. His research connects genome regulation with telomere biology and molecular aging clocks to study cancer and aging, often in collaboration with clinical researchers. Since 2026, he has been Head of the Department of Data Analysis and Mathematical Modelling.

Wim combines bioinformatics and cancer epigenetics to discover biomarkers and develop molecular diagnostics. His work connects computational genomics with clinical applications and biotechnology entrepreneurship. He has co-founded biotechnology and bioinformatics companies including Devgen, Genohm, BioLizard, OHMX.bio and myNEO Therapeutics.

He is co-founder and managing director of Novalis Biotech, an early-stage life-sciences venture capital firm.

Gerben develops bioinformatics approaches that combine sequencing and mass spectrometry to study how genomes give rise to proteins. His research brings together ribosome profiling, long-read sequencing and proteogenomics, with a particular interest in small open reading frames, microproteins and novel proteoforms in health and disease.

He is co-founder and chief scientific officer of OHMX.bio, a Ghent University spin-off specialising in multi-omics services.
